Ways to help the Homeless as Winter Approaches
There are plenty of other ways to help the homeless besides handing over cash; from spreading awareness to simply showing compassion. How to go about
Dear, Partners & Supporters!
According to the Council on Homelessness Annual Report 2022, “Florida is facing an unprecedented housing market. Florida’s population growth is the second highest in the country.1 Supply and demand being fundamental market factors, this is causing housing costs to increase at extraordinary rates. Between April 2021 and April 2022, Florida’s single-family home costs have increased [by] 28.8%; and 34.6% of the homes sold in that time were purchased for cash. This makes purchasing a home unobtainable for many families. This, coupled with population growth, increases pressures on the rental housing market. Florida has among the highest year-over-year rent increases; in fact, only three cities in the country saw rent increases of 30% or more – and all three are in Florida.2 And Florida has the highest percentage of cost-burdened renters in the country.3 The lack of affordable housing is the primary cause of homelessness. For these reasons, the Council strongly encourages the State to appropriate more funding to the development of affordable rent.”
Nevertheless, we want to admonish you to consider giving monetarily and/or donating property (i.e., vacant apartment buildings, condos, and/or single-family homes) to enable Careville Housing Solutions Inc. in realizing our goal of providing essential housing to various marginalized groups experiencing homelessness. Join in our effort to play a vital role in ensuring we have the proper funds to address the 30,000 homeless Floridian residents.
We’re hoping with your generous giving we can jump-start our investment in South Florida communities by purchasing real estate, renovating properties as needed, handling property management costs, and covering the non-profit marketing costs. All donations are tax-deductible.
With gratitude,
Oscar & Alisha Lewis
President & Vice President of Careville Housing Solutions Inc.
